Desi Anwar is a renowned Indonesian national anchor, television journalist and producer, writer, as well as media & communications specialist. Currently she is the Director/ Senior Anchor/Correspondent with CNN Indonesia TV based in Jakarta where she hosts a daily talkshow programme called Insight with Desi Anwar, featuring in-depth interviews with public figures, newsmakers, celebrities and decision makers from Indonesia and over the world. Prior to this, Desi was a senior journalist and talk show host with a news channel Metro TV. During her time with Metro TV, Desi held various positions, including heading Media Services Department producing TV talkshows, advertorials, TV ads and creative placement for clients. She also hosted weekly talkshow on politics and economy.

Desi's career in journalism and broadcast industry started in 1990 when she was a TV reporter for RCTI, the first independent TV in Indonesia. She then became an anchor and producer, pioneering the country’s leading prime time news programme.

Desi received her Master’s degree in Indonesian and Malay studies from the SOAS University of London as well as Bachelor’s degree in French and European Studies from the University of Sussex.

Desi is a regular columnist for media outlets such as The Jakarta Globe, Mainichi Shimbun, Tempo English magazine, The Jakarta Post and Indonesian Observer. She also published several books in English and Indonesian.
