About WRI Indonesia

WRI Indonesia is a national entity (Yayasan) associated with the World Resources Institute (WRI), a global environmental research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity, and human well-being. Within its global network, WRI employs three approaches, namely: Count It, Change It, Scale It. WRI works with various stakeholders in the natural resources sector to support policy and management that are both profitable and sustainable. WRI has worked with leaders in more than 50 countries for more than 30 years, with offices in the United States, Brazil, China, Europe, India, and Indonesia.

Launched in early 2014, WRI Indonesia builds on WRI’s 10-year history in the country focusing on forests and land use governance, and strengthens our impact on the ground. In the short-to-medium term, WRI Indonesia aims to expand its presence and portfolio to include climate, energy, as well as cities and transportation programs.

WRI Indonesia is seeking for a full-time Social Media and Web Consultant with excellent understanding and skills about social media, marketing communications, and web management. The position requires individuals with basic understanding and passion on environment, economic and governance issue. This person reports directly to Communications Coordinator of WRI Indonesia and will work under coordination with communications team at WRI’s global office.

Overview

To create awareness and understanding among stakeholders about WRI Indonesia’s priority issues (i.e forest & landscape, renewable energy, sustainable cities, and resilient climate), WRI Indonesia aims to become a pace-setter for online engagement via accessible and rich source of data, maps, analysis, and visualizations on WRI Indonesia’s websites, platforms, and social media. The key performance indicator for the position is to achieve audience engagement and intimacy and website traffic.

To be the pace-setter, WRI Indonesia has to be timely and relevant in providing data and visualization hence the consultant should be an insightful social listener to understand the conversation trend on WRI Indonesia’s issues in the online sphere. Additionally, the consultant has to create ongoing online conversation that invites public engagement.

On day-to-day basis, the consultant will be in charged to manage WRI Indonesia’s owned assets (website and social media) and execute the communications strategy into powerful online content that is based on human story-telling and appealing visuals. In addition, the consultant may be requested to assist with online dissemination of WRI Indonesia’s key messages in collaboration with partners online assets based on an agreed strategy.

The consultant will also be responsible for providing comprehensive analytics and insight from all online communications.

Scope of Work

Online communications strategy

  • Develop and execute online communications strategy consistent with the overall WRI Indonesia communication strategy with in-depth understanding of WRI Indonesia’s target audience.

  • Periodically update and strengthen online communication strategy and WRI Indonesia communication strategy based on insights from social data/ metrics.

  • Generate and share content daily and periodically to build meaningful connections and interaction with targeted virtual communities and networks users.

Social media

  • Create monthly editorial calendars and editorial plan for all WRI’s social media channels

  • Create appealing visuals to be disseminated on social media

  • Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (text, images, video) that builds meaningful connection and encourages WRI Indonesia’s community to take action

  • Maintain and regularly update WRI Indonesia’s social media (Twitter and Instagram)

  • Build and maintain WRI Indonesia’s presence on Facebook and LinkedIn

Website management

  • Optimize WRI Indonesia’s websites and social media pages to increase the visibility of content through – but not limited to - search engine optimization.

Online metrics

  • Analyze social data/ metrics and generate insights for further improvement on WRI Indonesia’s online communications.

Newsletter

  • Disseminate newsletter or other email pitches to WRI Indonesia’s subscribers.

  • Develop strategy to boost subscribers for WRI Indonesia’s newsletters.

Miscellaneous

  • Continuously look for innovative online platforms that be utilized to tell stories, research findings and key messages of WRI Indonesia

  • Assist WRI Indonesia Communication Coordinator to identify and collaborate with partners to assist online dissemination of WRI Indonesia’s key messages in other relevant channel.

  • Assist WRI Indonesia Communication Coordinator to collaborate with all project managers and project lead to identify, frame and tell stories and/or information from each project consistent with WRI Indonesia overall communication strategy.

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience in digital and social media for minimum of one year. An individual with working experience in an environmental organization is preferable.

  • Excellent writing, editing (photo/ video/ text), presentation, and communications skills.

  • Demonstrable social analytics tools knowledge

  • Adequate knowledge of web development and content management software

  • Adequate knowledge of social media tools and their specific functions

  • Positive attitude, eyes on details with good multitasking in a fast-paced environment

  • Fluent in English and Indonesian

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or any other relevant field

Fee
