In December 2015, 195 countries have adopted the first universal climate agreement at UNFCC COP21 in Paris, in which they agreed to limit the global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celcius above pre-industrial levels. Following this agreement, countries, including Indonesia, are required to submit their emission reduction contribution plan, known as Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC).

In light of this global momentum for reducing emission, this public lecture will discuss: 1. The global climate change situation and negotiation, including global efforts for emission reduction 2. The national and local policies for reducing emission, for instance through better land-use management and mapping policy.
