Aisyah Putri Lestari
Methane Emission Research Analyst
Aisyah is a Methane Emission Research Analyst at WRI Indonesia, responsible for enhancing understanding of methane emissions from Indonesia's waste sector. She conducts comprehensive research to develop strategic recommendations supporting national climate change mitigation efforts, including the development of methodologies for emission quantification, data analysis, and modeling. Additionally, Aisyah assesses the impact of waste management practices on methane emissions, analyzes policies, and identifies opportunities for emission reduction.
Prior to joining WRI Indonesia, Aisyah contributed extensively to various initiatives, including the development of the Green Economy Index, Circular Economy Roadmap Study, Waste Management Reform Study, and serving as a validator for the AKSARA Platform (an application for planning and monitoring low-carbon and climate-resilient development) and Low Carbon Development Policy while working as a Waste Emission Analyst at GIZ. She was stationed at the Low Carbon Development Indonesia Secretariat under the Directorate of Environment, Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).
Her work also includes conducting national waste management studies such as the Food Loss and Waste Study, the development of a Waste Management Retribution Calculator adopted in Permendagri No. 7 of 2021, and other waste management assessments during her role as a Junior Project Executive at Waste4Change. Furthermore, she redesigned industrial waste treatment installations and clean water management systems for local water utilities (PDAM) while working at PT. Trimitra Green Enviro as a consultant.
Aisyah holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Her undergraduate thesis focused on the pre-design of leachate treatment installations at Kaliabu Landfill, Madiun Regency, East Java Province.
