Azwar, as he is commonly known, serves as a Blue Carbon Governance Specialist at WRI Indonesia. He plays a pivotal role in leading programs under WRI's ocean portfolio. His primary responsibilities encompass various ocean initiatives, such as blue carbon, blue food, ocean-climate action, and nature-based solutions. Azwar also contributes to the design and execution of high-quality research within the ocean portfolio.

Before joining WRI Indonesia, Azwar worked for CIFOR-ICRAF, where his focus was on land-based governance policies, sustainable landscape planning approaches, and stakeholder engagement. His experience also includes involvement with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in advocacy, forest governance, conservation, and community empowerment. Additionally, Azwar has experience in the business sector, particularly in Industrial Timber Plantations.

Azwar is an alumnus of the Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and holds a Master of Science degree in Forestry from the same university.

Outside of his professional commitments, Azwar enjoys spending his free time reading, exploring new places through travel, and relaxing with a cup of coffee.
