Rachman Setiawan is an energy analyst specializing in energy systems, data analytics, and clean energy transition. He is currently contributing to research and advisory work on energy markets, infrastructure planning, and decarbonization strategies, with experience spanning both Indonesia and the United States.

Rachman holds a Master’s degree in Energy and Resources (ERG) from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Indonesia. During his graduate studies, he worked with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab), contributing to the Utility-Scale Solar Market Report, where he analyzed trends in solar deployment, financing, and policy. His research also focused on forecasting electric vehicle charging demand using machine learning and time-series models, reflecting his interest in bridging data science with real-world energy planning.

With professional experience in both research and industry, Rachman has worked on solar project development, energy modeling, and stakeholder analysis. He has been involved in developing solar PV projects in Southeast Asia and conducting policy and community analysis for renewable energy projects. His expertise includes data analytics, energy systems, and integrating technical, economic, and policy perspectives into actionable insights. He approaches energy challenges by combining quantitative modeling with policy and market understanding, aiming to support informed decision-making in emerging energy systems.
