Umi is a Livelihood Specialist at WRI Indonesia. She is based in South Sumatra where she works mostly on forest management and community conservation, especially for community assistance under the Social Forestry scheme including Customary Forestry. Her works are focusing on community development, community-based conservation, sustainable livelihood optimization, and community-based business establishment. Since 2021, she has also worked on Aceh’s Social Forestry with the same roles.

Previously, Umi worked as Global Forest Watch (GFW) Consultant. She has been actively involved in conducting training as well as assisting the use of GFW and mobile Apps Forest Watcher in collaboration with forestry government bodies, CSOs, and universities.

Umi holds BSc in Forestry from Universitas Gadjah Mada and two masters majoring in Geography from Universitas Gadjah Mada and Protected Area Management from James Cook University. She does love hiking and having chats with the local community. She would also love to discuss ecotourism and sociopreneurship.
