Critical Minerals Analyst
Latifa is a Critical Minerals Analyst working on extractive sector governance in Indonesia, with a strong interest in environmental sustainability. She is a lifelong learner with particular interests in environmental policy, resource governance, and sustainable development. She holds an MSc in Environmental Policy and Technology from Imperial College London, with a focus on critical minerals and energy for sustainable development. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the Bandung Institute of Technology, where she specialized in environmental microbiology.
Her work at WRI Indonesia spans comparative analyses of international ESG standards and Indonesian regulatory frameworks, including gap assessments related to sustainable mining governance. Latifa works closely with Indonesian government counterparts and research institutions on policy-relevant studies that support the responsible management of mineral resources. She brings professional experience across environmental consulting, carbon markets, and mining policy, and is particularly interested in strengthening the integration of economic, social, and environmental dimensions of extractive governance. Her broader career interests include contributing to evidence-based policymaking and multilateral cooperation in support of just and sustainable critical mineral extraction.
Apart from her work in STEM, Latifa is a painter who works across various media, including acrylics, oils, watercolour, and digital art. She is also an avid traveler, a coffee and culinary enthusiast, and enjoys playing recreational tennis.
