Aim

This project convenes corporate purchasers and amplifies their collective inputs to inform an enabling policy framework for scaling renewable power deployment and use.

Where

Indonesia

Why

Over 140 major companies have already pledged to shift to 100% renewable energy and have made significant progress towards these targets in the U.S. and Europe. But in emerging markets, regulatory and market barriers have slowed investment and limited clean energy deployment across supply chains.

CEIA engages with government leaders to create policy environments that support and attract clean energy investment. By bringing together the public and private sectors and providing technical support to commercial and industrial energy consumers, the CEIA helps businesses inform policy and test new purchasing models that can be replicated and scaled.

CEIA aggregates clean energy demand of multiple buyers to reach economies of scale, lower the cost of renewables, attract quality service providers, and drive investment toward new pools of projects.

How

In response to significant private sector commitments to renewable energy, this project has established a coalition of corporate buyers in Indonesia and facilitated a series of working group dialogues focused on aggregating RE demand and accelerating clean energy solutions.

This project amplifies private sector perspectives on barriers and sharing actionable policy recommendations with the Government of Indonesia and utility stakeholders to enhance an enabling environment for achieving renewble energy goals. This project is also developing innovative renewable energy procurement models through direct technical assistance to corporate buyers that can be scaled with industrial energy users and government partners.

Additionally, CEIA is partnering with the national electricity company (PLN) to explore innovative green electricity products for businesses in Indonesia, including technical support for designing a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) and Green as a Service (GEAS) offerings that meet international standards.
