In January 2023, Ermaliza joined WRI Indonesia as the District Coordinator for the Smallholder Hub Project for Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Ermaliza has been involved in mentoring independent oil palm smallholders since 2016, working in the Indonesian Palm Oil Development Smallholder (IPODS) program, supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Musim Mas Group in Pelalawan Regency as Field Coordinator. Ermaliza is also active as a Good Agriculture Practices trainer, developing the capacity of independent oil palm smallholders.

Prior to her active work with independent oil palm smallholders, Ermaliza worked in banking from 2008 to 2015 as an Associate Sales Manager at CIMB Niaga Bank, Pekanbaru Branch, Riau Province.
