Irsyad Rafi Madjid is a Transport Policy Research Assistant with WRI Indonesia’s Cities team. Nationally, he organises data for Indonesia’s GHG-inventory tools and prepares background material for sector-decarbonisation briefs produced with the Ministry of Transportation through the UK PACT Low-Carbon Transport programme. Locally, he analyses public-transport planning and financing in Makassar, and in Surabaya he contributes to Old Town revitalisation discussions and offers technical input to an early electric-vehicle conversion pilot. He also supports development of a multi-modal emissions-projection tool covering land, rail, aviation and maritime transport, and assists research on vertical land consolidation in Jakarta.

Irsyad holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Institut Teknologi Bandung. His interests lie in sustainable mobility, resilient infrastructure and equitable spatial development, with a particular focus on the policy levers—financing, governance and regulation—that can bring these elements together for more liveable Indonesian cities.
