Junior Net Zero Research Analyst
Muhammad Reza is a Junior Net Zero Research Analyst with over two years of experience specializing in industrial decarbonization. He currently works at the intersection of sustainability and business to accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon economy. Reza has contributed to raising awareness through capacity-building programs designed to enhance industrial decarbonization efforts in Indonesia. Notably, in 2025, he managed the flagship Corporate Assistance Program (CAP) Batch 3.0, involving 14 companies from diverse iron and steel subsectors, including primary iron & steelmaking, rolling & forming, coating, and fabrication. He is also conducting research for policy frameworks for the iron and steel industry, aimed at driving decarbonization while supporting economic growth. Throughout his career at WRI Indonesia, Reza has been actively engaged in scientific and data-driven advocacy, fostering collaboration among government entities, industry associations, civil society, and businesses.
Prior to this, Reza worked at a climate solutions startup that focused on greenhouse gas (GHG) emission accounting products, ESG consultancy, and carbon project development. He possesses expertise in GHG inventory management, science-based target setting, and developing decarbonization strategies.
Reza holds a Master's degree in Systems Engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada, with specialization in New and Renewable Energy, focusing his research on energy systems modeling. His educational background has equipped him with an understanding of interdisciplinary issues that involve both nature and people, particularly those that influence the dynamics of energy transition and the interconnectedness of climate risks.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Reza enjoys an active lifestyle that includes running, swimming, and occasionally wall climbing.
